As a photographer and artist, my passion is not only to capture beautiful images but also to transform spaces with custom artwork that tells a story. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Glenda, a client with a unique vision for her home, and Robert from Cellar Creations, who specialises in crafting bespoke wine cellars. Together, we embarked on a creative journey to bring Glenda’s dream of a captain’s ship-themed wine cellar to life.
The Vision: A Ship Captain’s Wine Cellar with an Ocean View
Glenda reached out with a captivating concept in mind: she wanted her wine cellar to feel like the cabin of a ship, complete with an ocean view from inside. To bring this vision into reality, Robert from Cellar Creations designed a space featuring beautiful mahogany-style timbers, creating a cozy, rustic atmosphere that evoked the charm of a vintage ship. My role was to enhance this theme through a custom artwork installation that would make the viewer feel as if they were gazing out of a captain's cabin at the vast ocean waters.

Creating the Perfect Artwork: A Triptych with a Purpose
For this project, we designed a triptych—a three-part artwork installation, each piece of varying sizes to add depth and dimension. Each piece within the triptych contributes to an immersive experience, offering a unique perspective of endless ocean, creating the illusion that the viewer is peering out from a ship. This layout was perfect for the wine cellar, lending it a subtle sense of movement and openness that contrasted beautifully with the warm, rich textures of the wood.

The Creative Process: Collaboration, Communication, and Customization
This project involved many email exchanges and phone calls as we worked to ensure that every detail matched Glenda’s expectation. From discussing colour tones, the right image, and sizes to deciding on the exact positioning of each panel, the process was a blend of creative expression and practical planning. Custom artwork installations like this one require a strong vision and close collaboration, but the end result makes every step of the journey worthwhile.

Bringing Spaces to Life with Custom Artwork
This project was a fantastic example of how custom artwork can transform a space. For Glenda, the wine cellar became more than just a room—it became an immersive experience, a place where the ocean and the charm of a ship’s cabin blend seamlessly to create a feeling of timeless adventure.
Personally, I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Glenda for trusting me with the process and assisting with working closely from Robert at Cellar Creations. None of this would have eventuated without your communication’s and trust.
